Слушайте, не успела оглянуться -- а опять "круглая дата" хренова. Вроде только что пережили пошлятину под названием "60 лет со дня Победы" - ан вот опять.

Как говорила Линор Горалик, "9-го мая уезжаю из Москвы, чтоб там не быть". Ну, я и не там, впрочем, однако до нас тоже добирается, к сожалению.

i still respect 9th of may. It's a big deal here too but I take out the stuff I don't like and still sort of pay my respects.

well... I guess I can relate to paying respects to an end of war, or that sort of thing, but the way it is typically done these days horrifies me.

yes to that I can agree (the way it's done) - and I read how horribly it is done in Russia. But the holiday itself and true meaning of it still is very much with me, both my grandfathers fought in this war, and family lived through Leningrad seige and all. I will never forget that.
